David Magladry Productions - Lighting Design and Consultation
  Theatrical Lighting Designer

David's design versatility enables him to work in musical theatre, drama, comedy, revues and concerts in venues ranging from an intimate nightclub setting to a 2000 seat concert hall.

David is currently providing Lighting Design for the 2011 Classic Theatre Festival's productions of "Bell, Book and Candle" and "The Fourposter" and is designing for the live theatre portion of the Canadian Museum of Civilization's upcoming exhibion, "Dieux".

He as well continues to provide lighting and design seminars with past clients including The Ottawa Fringe Festival, Ottawa Little Theatre, Kanata Theatre, Centrepointe Theatre, Ottawa Valley Arts Council and A.Y. Jackson Secondary School.

From 2008 to 2010 David acted as Resident Lighting Designer and Technical Director for Ottawa's Gladstone Theatre. During that same time has as well designed two 730 Productions, "A Flea in her Ear" and "Shining City" for Director John Kelly. David has designed all fourteen productions for Mr. Kelly since the inception of 730 Productions, among these, "A Night in November" starring Pierre Brault, the critically acclaimed "Iron" for which he was nominated for Outstanding Lighting Design, and the Canadian premier of "King’s of the Kilbourne Highroad".

He was as well asked back for the fifth year to provide lighting design for Algonquin College Theatre Department's final year productions. David has in the past also taught the Production Two class for the college and has at various times sat on the college's Theatre Arts Department Advisory Committee.

Over the years David has designed for Director Jan Irwin on "A Seaway Story" produced by the St. Lawrence Parks Commission as well as "Talking With" presented by CanPlay Productions, "Medea", and "Fruitcake Weather" produced in collaboration with the Ottawa Little Theatre's Professional Series.

He designed The Company of Fool's Montreal and Ottawa production of "Richard III in Bouffon" as well as "Tempest in a Teapot" presented at the National Art Centre's 4th Stage and "A Midwinter's Dream Tale" staged at The Gladstone, with his design being nominated for Outstanding Lighting Design. He has as well provided lighting design for Parks Canada's Heritage Theatre Series and was engaged by Orpheus Musical Theatre to design their sold out 100th Anniversary show "The Spirit of Orpheus".

He has collaborated with Director Michael Dobbin on the Thousand Islands Playhouse production of "Rope's End", designed the Ottawa stopover of South Africa's "Watoto Choir", has designed eight productions for The University of Ottawa Theatre Department, and for the touring production of "The Magic of Chris Pilsworth". He was engaged to design the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club's 100th Anniversary show and has provided site specific consultation and design for the "Ottawa Fringe Festival"

David continues to act as Company Lighting Designer for the North American tours of "Holly Larocque and the Big Band Broadcast"
