David Magladry Productions - Lighting Design and Consultation
  Theatrical Lighting Designer

David’s design versatility has enabled him to work in musical theatre, drama, comedy, revues and concerts in venues ranging from an intimate nightclub setting to a 2000 seat concert hall.

He recently designed the critically acclaimed “The Good Father” and “Iron” for 730 Production’s, “A Seaway Story” written and directed by Jan Irwin and produced by the St. Lawrence Parks Commission and The Company of Fool’s Montreal and Ottawa production of “Richard III in Bouffon”. He as well provided lighting design for Parks Canada’s Heritage Theatre Series.

He was asked back for the second year to design the three Algonquin College Theatre Department’s final year productions as well as their “Flying Solo” evening of monologues at the National Art Centre’s 4th Stage and has already been engaged to design their 2009 roster of productions. He as well sits on the Algonquin College Theatre Arts Department Advisory Committee.

David continues to act as Company Lighting Designer for the North American tours of “Holly Larocque and the Big Band Broadcast” and for Ottawa newest professional company, Gladstone Productions. The last few years have seen David design for The New Ottawa Repertory Theatre and for The Company of Fool’s production of “Tempest in a Teapot” presented at the National Art Centre’s 4th Stage. As well, Orpheus Musical Theatre engaged him to design their 100th Anniversary show “The Spirit of Orpheus”.

He designed "A Night in November" starring Pierre Brault and directed by John Kelly and based upon this production and his design of the Canadian premier of "King’s of the Kilbourne Highroad" assumed the role of Company Lighting Designer for Mr. Kelly’s 730 Productions.

He has collaborated with Director Michael Dobbin on the Thousand Islands Playhouse production of “Rope’s End”, and with Director Janet Irwin on “Talking With” presented by CanPlay Productions, as well as “Fruitcake Weather” presented in collaboration with the Ottawa Little Theatre’s Professional Series.

He designed the 2007 Ottawa stopover of South Africa’s “Watoto Choir”, has designed eight productions for The University of Ottawa Theatre Department, designed for the touring production of "The Magic of Chris Pilsworth" and provided site specific consultation and design for the “Ottawa Fringe Festival 2006”
